Hiring Research Associate – Occulo Bio, LLC


Occulo Bio LLC, a startup focused on development of next-generation biotherapeutics, is now accepting applications for a Research Associate. The company employs a cutting-edge platform integrating computational protein design, high-throughput protein engineering, and sensitive immunoassays to reengineer non-human biotherapeutics to be immunologically “stealthy”. Through affiliates, partnerships, and actively funded programs, Occulo Bio is pursuing development of a wide range of protein therapeutics with indications in oncology, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, and other unmet medical needs.

The Research Associate will have primary responsibility for immune cell culturing and ELISpot analysis, and will assist project scientists with molecular cloning, protein production, and protein analysis on an as-needed basis. As such, the successful candidate will have a bachelors or masters degree in immunology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related discipline, and will additionally have at least one year of experience in a research laboratory, with a preference for two or more years. Necessary technical knowledge and skills include mammalian cell culture and protein analysis techniques. Specific proficiency with primary immune cell culture is strongly preferred, and expertise with PCR, molecular cloning techniques, recombinant protein production, and techniques such as SDS-PAGE, western blot, ELISA, or spectroscopic enzyme assays is desirable. General laboratory and organizational skills, an ability to work both independently and in a team environment, and a self-motivated drive for excellence are required.
